Marie Lund’s images, be they photographs or paintings, are inspired by her surroundings and the impact of the seasons and human involvement across the landscape. She resides on the edge of Murramarrang National Park, a peaceful place surrounded by kangaroos, birds and ancient forest. This gives her an opportunity to observe the changes of the seasons in the nature and the influences of the weather on nature. Marie: “I look carefully on the changes of light in the different times of the day on the trees, rocks, sand, sky and the sea. I am inspired by it to paint outside on the spot even in less friendly weather. I like to work quickly, my random choice of textures and colours expresses my feelings, my personality and rhythm of my present life. Balance is my guiding principle. Nature offers me not only a desired freedom and everlasting inspiration but also a retreat from society.”
